Heriot-Watt was delighted to host a group of alumni on campus last week, and Ian Macaulay reports on how the reunion went.
“Forty years ago the Class of ’74 graduated in Mechanical Engineering. We held a reunion in August 2014 with twenty of the class coming from as far as Australia, USA, Turkey, Norway and UK.
On the evening of Thursday 14th August a reception was held where a career profile of everyone was handed out with a current photograph. Each member of the class had been asked to provide a one page profile of family, career and hobbies. Friday morning, the reunion proper, we visited the site of the Queensferry Bridge for a slide show on the design and construction with progress to date.
Lunch in the Bistro at the Edinburgh Business School was followed by a visit to the School of Engineering where we learned how current students undertake their studies for qualification and compared it to our own experience. The evening event was a meal in the Tower Restaurant in Chambers Street across from the building in which we had studied. Saturday morning was a visit to the Museum of Flight, and in the afternoon a visit to the Fringe.
Forty years seemed like yesterday as our old friendships were renewed.”
